The OpenStack storage projects continue to mature each cycle exposing more and more Enterprise cloud storage infrastructure functionalities around high availability, security, business continuity, & provisioning, that redefines Enterprise storage to Storage as a service for both production, test & development cloud workloads.

 

This session will provide a deep dive roadmap update for the new OpenStack 11th release key features of the various OpenStack storage services, including:

 

Cinder (Block)

 


  • Cinder ‘State Enforcer’



  • Incremental backup, Filesystems quiescing and Consistency Groups enhancements.



  • Public & Private Volume Types and new Cinder volume encryption support in horizon and support for Barbican.


 

Glance (Image)

 


  • Image Conversion


    • Use cases in real deployments: Convert image on the fly depending on the store, for example..




  • Glance storage capabilities through glance_store.


 

Swift (Object)


  • Erasure codes



  • Composite Tokens and



  • Fast Posting



This session will also provide a zoom-in to features in the works for the next “L” release, such as the new Cinder Objects concepts in block storage , review Artifacts and Community Images status in Glance as well as Pluggable On-Disk Back-end APIs  and At-RestEncryption status in Swift.
